Portrait of Pope John Paul II
by Cynthia Massey Parsons
In 1999 through the most amazing series of coincidences... Cynthia Massey Parsons
painted the portrait of Pope John Paul II for the Archdiocese of New York.  Father
Brian T. McSweeney, the Vice-Chancellor of the Chancery of the Archdiocese of New
York, co-ordinated the details and process of its production and delivery... first to John
Cardinal O'Connor of the Archdiocese of New York, and then to the Archbishop John
Hughes Archive Center in Yonkers, New York.

In coming weeks some of the stories of its painting and the imagery that emerged in the
portrait will be added here.

Please return to read the stories and view the portrait and related photographs.
